Make the best out of your weekend!


Weekends are like the hazelnut in the Ferrero Rocher: deep in between, highly anticipated and generally something we all look forward to. That is why when they come around, it should be in everyone’s interest to enjoy them to the fullest, before the weekday toil begins all over again. I’ve been on the lookout to improve my weekend routine, since juggling between my full-time job and blog duties has left me with too little time on my hands. So, without further ado, here are my top tips on how to make the best out of your weekends:

1. Enjoy the sweet morning light

  It might sound crazy, but I do try to wake up as early as possible in the weekends. That does not mean I set my alarm at seven am, but I do get up around nine. This way, I get to run small errants and enjoy the silent streets of the city. By the time you get back home, you will feel like the day has just begun!

2. Plan your days

I know you may have more time on your hands during the weekend, but that time flies way too easily when you don’t prioritize! If you have some nice event to go to, don’t neglect everything else just because of that. If you plan your day, believe me, you won’t linger on one activity while neglecting others.

3. Don’t forget to relax

Of course this is everyone’s goal! Weekends, for those lucky ones, are all about relaxing and enjoying some lazy time. If you’re anything like me, you very well know that that’s not possible. So, while planning your days, don’t forget to add some relaxation time. This may either be a bubble bath, reading your favorite book or watching an episode of your favorite series. Don’t feel guilty, you’re not slacking off, you’re just enjoying a couple of hours with yourself.

4. Socialize

If your job revolves around people, you may not want to see a single face during the weekend. I thought so too in the beginning, but it turns out, you always want to see the right faces. Take your friends and go for a meal or a walk, do something fun! It always helps you unwind and you’ll have something to remember starting Monday.

5. Avoid chores at all cost

This is the big mistake we all do: we leave things we never get to do during the week for the weekend. Stop thinking about the weekend as the dumping ground for chores. Housecleaning responsibilities should be done during the week and not during your relaxation time! If you get to do a little on Monday and a bit on Tuesday, you’ll be left with close to nothing for Saturday. Give yourself a ten minute chore during weekdays, and enjoy your much needed time in the weekends.
